After nearly nine minutes (we recorded the phone call) of waiting on hold listening over and over again to “we are currently experiencing an unusually high call volume and hold times are longer than usual,” Gina picked up the line at 6:13 P.M. after pulling up (online) and printing weather reports (including radar maps) that showed no weather issues at all over the area of the airport in Crescent City, called Contour Airlines Customer Service at (888) 332-6686. He later quoted the flight attendant stating to the passengers “keep your fingers crossed” indicating the attendant hoped the aircraft would go to Crescent City (CEC). Several passengers (including he and his family) considered getting off but, in very short order were advised it was too late and the aircraft door was closed and passengers were directed to turn off their cell phones. Anyone wanting to get off the aircraft needed to promptly do so. Passengers were advised there were ‘weather related’ issues and the flight would likely be diverted to the airport in Medford, Oregon. There were conversations back and forth between the pilot and flight attendant the information was then relayed by the flight attendant to the passengers. received a call from our son who was now on the aircraft. The same individual who staffed the check-in counter also was the one who staffed the boarding gate for Contour. After about five minutes things calmed down and boarding resumed. There had been a security breach of some sort at the Contour gate while passengers were in the process of boarding and there was quite a loud ruckus with alarms going off, boarding doors closing, etc. : Received another call from our son from the Contour boarding gate area.

Apparently contact information wasn’t the only data compromised when the confirmation numbers were changed. In all cases, the birth date was off by two days. Other passengers waiting in line had the same issue. Three out of four of their birth dates were wrong and they were having issues checking in. : Received call from our son advising he and his family had a hard time at the Contour check-in counter in Oakland. Requested that Mike email the new Confirmation number to each of the four booked passengers. Some passenger contact information was lost when confirmation numbers were changed. The original booking Confirmation number 65BR6G was changed to RZETP. : Called Contour customer service and spoke with representative (Mike).

The re-booking costs alone (after return flight cancellation ) excluding transportation to the Rogue Valley International – Medford Airport, hotel and meals totaled $2,169.70. This review is for the Oakland to Crescent flight only and pales when compared to the return flight that never even happened. Contour Round Trip Flight: OAK to CEC 12/28/19: Return 1/3/20. Booked (for son and his family’s visit) four Round Trip tickets for $378 each.
